Biggest reason she needs to get off the vent.

Because every time someone asks me how Ainsley is doing, I have to say, "she's still on the vent, and they are trying to wean her off."

It totally sounds like I'm saying, "she's still on the vent, and they are trying to wiener off."

And then I wonder...do they want to laugh because I kind of said wiener?  Should I point it out?  Or is this person not into wiener jokes...?

I can't handle this kind of stress.

Ok honestly... is a person that isn't into wiener jokes worth your time and worry anyway? I say make the jokes.

And the verification word is flubball. That's awesome.

Hey, I figure if someone isn't into wiener jokes, they aren't worth associating with. Right?

(Well, I might make an exception for my grandmother. But other than that.)

Haha, Rikki, I was a minute too late. Obviously this must be an excellent point.

Yeah, that is tough to say! And gosh, the little ones are SO hard to extubate.

Autocorrect keeps changing "extubate" to "estivate" and I dont even know what that means.

How can you not make weiner jokes? Of course, I live in a black humor world, so my perspective may be off.

Weiner jokes are awesome. Tell them often.

Only thing funnier than a wiener joke is MAYBE a "rectum, they damn near kilt 'em" joke, and how often in life do we get the chance for one of THOSE? Some people just aren't worth knowing OR associating with, and fortunately we have wiener jokes as a handy-dandy barometer there.

Hi! I have been reading your blog since the beginning and had b/g twins due like the day before yours and mine came at 31 weeks. They both have a rare kidney disorder so NICU is going to be our home away from home for a while. Our little girl is doing well but we've had lots of drama with our little man. He had surgery on Thursday to get a central line in his chest and he is loving the vent and they keep telling us every day he'll get off by night/morning etc and it's really hard. He would also love to sumo wrestle with Ainsley because he's got some serious puffy face happening- oh and an infection. It's all pretty crap. Just wanted to know that I'm praying for Ainsley and know how hard all this is and really admire your sense of humor amidst it all- it keeps me smiling too.
Also you said something about Addison Montgomery Shepherd in an old email and doesn't it totally suck that neonatal surgeons in real life are SO much less awesome than her. Grey's really just set me up to be disenchanted with the real world edical field...

I say that anything that can make you laugh right now is a good thing. We all need to laugh, especially during times of stress.

Bwahahahahahaha. You are a mess. And after working in an ICU and 'weinering' off a lot of adults, I never even thought of the weiner factor here. Will never be able to speak of weaning again. *sigh*

Thinking of you and your weaning munchkin.

Heh. You said wiener.

Anything that makes your days brighter when your little one is in the NICU rocks! Let them laugh I say.

Love your ability to still laugh. Hang in there!

See there are two kinds of people I can't stand (ok most people that are breathing I can't stand) but I just don't trust people that don't like wiener jokes or cream cheese.

So why are you talking to them again...?

HA! You said weiner!

*See the cool people like weiner jokes.

Hope Miss A cooperates soon and kicks that vent to the curb.

Now I'm going to caller her Ainsley Weineroff in my mind (she sounds German now)!

Hope your little weiner shows that vent who's boss :)

I never know how to spell it. Is it weiner or wiener.... people use different spellings and I never know which one to use... it kind of stresses me out. Either way, it's hilarious and no one should ever turn down a weiner joke. (I guess I'm an E before I kind of girl).

I haven't been able to comment since we've been banned from commenting or blogging from work but wanted to say I check in almost every day and think about you and your family. I hope Miss Ainsley is continuing to heal and getting stronger by the day and I hope Miss Olivia is still having fun and entertaining you.
