That's what my friend Andrea said when she first told me about the fundraiser event that she is helping to organize for us. Because she knew I'd say no.
I've been lucky enough to find myself surrounded with people who are very kind. We've received meals and gifts and messages and just so much support and sometimes I wonder what we did to earn such wonderful friends and how I can ever possibly thank them properly.
So I have been ordered to accept help and not feel douche-y and basically just, ya know, relax and shit. And I'm trying but I blame you guys if I end up pregnant from all this relaxing. HA!
Andrea has asked to post something about The Event on my blog. Here's what she has to say:
When you consider someone a friend - and something unimaginable happens to them - as friends we want to help.
We want to do SOMETHING.
And that is just what we are doing.
If you are interested in what you might be able to do for Jen, Mark, Olivia & Ainsley - come on over and see what we are up to.

Awesome. Because she is right, we do all want to do SOMETHING.
This is great! I have been thinking of you and your family and wishing there was something I could do to help you.
Hope Ainsley is improving.
You have pretty awesome friends. Go with it because you know if you were in the same position, you'd do it for them (I mean, I'm assuming!). I'm sure there's lots of peeps who want to help out, too.
Feel the love!
I'm so happy someone has come up with a way for us to help! What nice friends you have!
I have been a reader for a long time and you always make me laugh. I am happy there is now something we can do for you! HUGS to your family!
FELLOW READERS: Jen got 604 messages on her post breaking the terrible news of Evelyn's death and the wonderful news of Ainsley's birth. I only donated $10 but if everyone who posted there sent along the same (or even half of that) think how much that could help with all the stuff insurance can't cover: gas, food, babysitters, etc.
Jen, I'm happy that I can send something to you in addition to the thoughts and prayers. I've been following your blog since 2009. This seems the least I can do. Thanks for letting us know of this opportunity.
thanks for all the love and support for The Event.
tell your friends, and tell them to tell THEIR friends!
I have shared this and I am more than happy to help out. Thanks you SO much for sharing!! And although I have never met you and your family, I think of you often and I am happy to be a teeny part of the massive support that you deserve.
I don't know how you do what you do...you're such an awesome Mom! I do hope that you family is all under one roof soon! Happy to help!
I love this idea! The blog world has given us this incredible forum for sharing our lives and experiences but it can be so frustrating to "know" people that you would love to help (or hug) and have no means of doing it (or at least not without seeming like you're a weirdo stalker!). You and your family have been on my mind so much - hang in there.
jen,
just found your blog as so many i read have brought me here....
i will be following your story, but i wanted to let you know i will be thinking of your family and hoping for the best. your family is beautiful and i love the way you see things....(99 problems but a bitch ain't one LMAO!!)

Just read through your entire blog in one sitting - and can I just say that you are a fabulous writer!
I was heartbroken to read about Evelyn's death and Ainsley's struggles in the NICU. I hope the trach allows her to grow, grow, grow.
I'm also very pleased that your lovely friends are doing this for all of you. You have given me a lot of help and support by being able to read your blog and as everybody says, we all want to do something to help. Love to you all.
The only way to make you be un-douchy is to let someone else handle it...we love you!
Done! I couldn't donate much but am glad to give a little! Thanks for being willing to accept help. That is a big step in the right direction of growing up. Sometimes we all need help and that is OK!
You're a rockstar mom, keep up the ass-kicking. :) We'll love you from where we are. xo
Hi! I have enjoyed reading your blog. I am trying to get my blog up and running. Do you have any suggestions on the best way to do so? It has taken me years to get the confidence to discuss something so personal, but I feel it is the thing I should do... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also here is a link to my blog if you would like to check it out...

Jen you SAVED me at a very dark time with your humor and honesty. I am serious. I googled infertily and thank God found your blog. Without your blog I never would have "met" you. I am so glad your friends are doing this for you because I would love to be able to help even just a little. Sending you and your family a huge virtual hug! -Mimi
Jen, you helped me through my first IVF. I have a daughter just a few weeks younger than Olivia and you got me through an anxious nine months. I am so sorry you and your family have to go through such tough times. Glad your friends have found a way for all of us to help.
hello newest follower look forward to reading your blog

Jen, have you considered starting a facebook group for Ainsley? It could serve as a frequent reminder for those of us who want to pray for her. I just started one for my daughter and the support is really amazing.
Praying for God's mercy and healing.
Jen, I wish I could give so much more. Most of all I wish I could magically make Ainsley better (and Evelyn alive and well). Nobody should have to go through this.
I hope the recent silence is just due to busyness and that Ainsley is improving. We know she is a fighter, that's for sure. As always, my thoughts and prayers to you all.
Just thinking of you and your family and hoping all of you are doing good.
Hope all is well, you are in my thoughts.
i too hope things are going well with ainsley. thanks for allowing us to pitch in and help.
