25 Weeks: Our daughter is a total kick tease.

When we went to the Bahamas on our honeymoon, we went snorkeling. We were amazed by the ability of the fish to sense our movements when we reached out to touch them. They'd be right by our hand, but as soon as we reached a little further, they moved just the tiniest bit further so that it was impossible for us to actually touch them.

Total fish tease.

The baby does this to us - mostly to Mark. She will be kicking all day long, and as soon as he puts his hand on my belly, she is dead asleep. Until he takes it off, then she's back at it. I'm afraid that she's not much of a crowd pleaser. People are randomly rubbing my belly expecting a friendly kick, and Cupake flips them off and floats away to tromp on my bladder or possibly on my butt hole (seriously...I feel like she is walking. On my butt hole).

Total kick tease.

Tomorrow starts my last week of the second trimester, and I definitely admit that I'm starting the feel the whole "Oh Shiz, Am Unprepared" anxiety. I think I'm ahead of the curve on the shopping front. Not so much on the being an organized adult front. No idea about pediatrician, birthing classes, middle name, daycare, etc. For the most part, these things don't bother me. Until the middle of the night, when they are all I can think about.

Speaking of middle of the night - nights are super fun around here. You know, since I have been getting super nauseous followed by RAGING HELL FIRE heartburn. The only relief is to sleep sitting up. And if you think that sounds sexy? You'd be right.

Pregnancy is fun during the day, and a pain in the esophagus at night.

24 Weeks: Stretching this Ann Taylor Loft shirt to the max. Perhaps I should just wear my maternity clothes?

25 Weeks: According to my professor, I'm "as big as a house." But he has stinky breath. So I think I win.

Doesn't the hole kicking the butt hole thing feel weird? Does she help you push the poop out?

(sorry, that was gross)

I never really understood the "big as a house" comment. I think it should be replaced with "excuse me while I put my foot in my mouth." I had a woman tell me I looked "SOOOO weird" yesterday and her excuse was that she had never been pregnant so the whole belly thing was weird to her. Gee thanks. That was nice of you to open up to me like that. :)

Dude. If you're as big as a house, I'm going to be a city block here soon. How come your horizontal stripes look way cuter than mine? ;) You look fantastic, and trust me, I'm freaking out right beside you.

You definitely win over stinky breath. Love the Ann Taylor Loft shirt-who needs maternity clothes?!

Glad she's kickin' it up!!

Love the photos! I'm sorry about your heartburn. And who says things like "you're as big as a house" ? I swear people forget their manners at the door. A guy said to me "you've really let yourself go"...of course he was joking since he knew I was pregnant...but I said back "yes, I'm pregnant, now what's your excuse?"

I can't believe you are so far along. Seems like just a couple weeks ago I was crossing my fingers for those embryo's to stick.

Have you offered professor stinky-breath a tic-tac or gum? I'm thinking it's no less rude than his comment to you (and would probably be appreciated by more people, yes?)

You look wonderful!
Congrats on reaching the double digits!! 98 days to go. My goodness, where did the time go.

Wishing you and yours all the best.
Stay healthy,

Anna.

Feet on the bladder (or even butt hole) are better than feet lodged against ribs trying to pry them apart. Just something to look forward to when she decides to lodge her head in your pelvis (which is also pretty fun).

No sense in "preparing" until you absolutely have to! Because really, you wouldn't be able to sleep anyway, so you might as well use your time productively (by worrying, not actually preparing).

The third trimester is when all the nesting stuff kicks in...

I'm pretty sure my daughter is trying to burrow her way out through my belly button.

I have no advice on the pregnancy front, but I do quite enjoy your humor. :)

Wow... I literally tried to explain the walking on the bottom of my uterus or "kicking my butt from the inside" experience just last night to my husband. It is the strangest experience.
And I also have the same issues the minute I lie down - shortness of breath, nausea, feeling like food is coming up from my stomach and logging somewhere between mouth and bowels...
It's awesome.
It's really fun to have your story to follow as we are just days apart I think.
You look great - keep feeling as good as possible ;-)

wow almost 3rd trimester! yay!!!

did you decide to keep her name a secret?? we have decided to do that, we found out we are having a girl also today! YAY!!! Can't wait to start shopping!

Don't worry you still haev time to sort out all those things! Sorry about the evil nights though, I guess they are practice for the sleepless nights ahead! (ok ppl always say that to me and I am like ya true, but I would MUCH rather be woken up at night by a cute little baby, then heartburn, gas, leg cramps etc.)

You are too cute...and for real what are people thinkin when they say anything about weight? BTW my siser n law gain over 50 lbs when pregnant. She was barely 100 lbs when she got knocked up. She is down almost all of the weight but 12 lbs in less than 3 months with no exercise at all. But she says the weight is so worth it...So DO NOT worry about how much you gained...I think that you look perfect. and Im the only opinion that matters. hahahhahahahaa

Looking good! My daughter is a "kick tease" too. LOL. I don't know if my hubby will ever get to feel her move. :- (

Sorry about the awful heartburn. I get it sometimes too and have to sleep sitting up. Not comfy, but I usually wake up after 2-3 hours feeling better and then I can lie down.

I really hope you're planning to publish this as a book! You're hilarious. You sound just like me and my girlfriends. One of whom just got pregnant after over a year of ttc. I myself have just been told I being referred to a dr. who "gets everyone pregnant!" GREAT! Anyway- your story is inspiring... Thanks for the laughs... have you read Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy? My girlfriend highly recommends it! Best wishes for your last few months!!!

size of a house? Maybe a small condo, but not a house :)

Blehhhhh! I just read Denise's comment! EWWWW!!!! haha!

I cannot believe you are going into your third trimester! That's insane!

It's sad that I can relate to your esophagus woes and not be pregnant! Actually, it's scary. If Mark can stand it, you can try getting those bed lifts and lifting just the headboard up. It tilts the bed 4 inches or so. (You can also use phonebooks) It takes some getting used to, but it's more comfortable than sleeping sitting up.

I can't believe you are about to start your 3rd trimester already! I remember waiting for you to tell us your blood results!

P.S- Your belly is so cute! You look great!

Our daughter is a bit of a kick-tease too. I think it may be because every time she really gets going, I get all excited and inadvertently start holding my breath -- and that makes her stop. So from now on I'm going to start playing it cool. "Move along, fetus, nothing to see here."
