Another Reason to Marry Target

As if there weren't enough reasons already?

Today, I went to vote. I only had to wait about a half hour to rock my vote, which was long enough for the RAGING HELL FIRE HEARTBURN that plagued me all night last night to return in full force.

I went to Target to get my free I Voted Give Me Free Stuff coffee from Starbucks, but ended up with a Peppermint Twist Mocha, because yum. Then I went off in search of something potent enough to tame the RAGING HELL FIRE.

The Target pharmacist must have sensed my Rapunzel-like distress, because she came from behind the counter and asked me if I needed help.

Me: Well, I can't remember what I can take for heartburn, other than Tums, since I'm pregnant.

She: *looks at belly* hmmm...well, let me look. You're not too pregnant yet, right?

Me: 6 months today, actually.

She: REALLY?! You don't look it - my goodness!

Now, given my experiences with the general public lately, you can certainly understand my reaction: a ridiculous Ally McBeal-like fantasy, in which I totally make out with this pharmacist in the bathroom, and everyone breaks out into song and dance and then I snap out of it and the pharmacist is looking at me like I am a flaming moron. Then a weird baby starts dancing around...

Me: Wow, thanks!

She: I remember how bad my heartburn was. Every time I bent over it would start, and then the only thing that would help me were these Tums Smoothies. Want to give these a try?

Me: Ok. Thank you so much!
(And I love you, and Target, and if I could figure out a way to marry you both, we could all be happy forever and ever with unlimited Tums Smoothies and as many of those Choxie treats as we want.)

Speaking of babies dancing around: Holy Kicks and Punches, Batman! A couple nights ago, I was trying to watch a movie, but was instead preoccupied with watching my belly move around and jiggle with each kick and punch. It was crazy!

I think the baby likes me better, because every time I try to call Mark over to feel her, she completely stops. Like, one second she is Tae-Bo-ing, and the next she is taking a little snooze. He has yet to feel her and I'm quite certain he thinks I am making it all up.

Ooohh! I haven't heard of Tums Smoothies but I already want them. Glad to hear you are getting nice belly entertainment now. Who needs movies?

j does the same thing with Cletus, he's totally fast asleep as soon has j's hand hovers over my belly. It doesn't help that he's prodding my belly like a punching bag I'm sure...

Try the Rolaids soft chews if the Smoothies lose their luster. I go back and forth but the soft chews are fab too. I had hellfire heartburn at like 2 am as well....

i'm going to have to hunt those down, too. i do not heart heartburn. at all. have you seen that new Target commercial where they feature salmon? they sell salmon at Target? Okay, that's a bit much. I don't think I could buy fish with a big red bullseye on it. but maybe that's just me.

Oh yes, Tums Smoothies are the bomb. I had heartburn and morning sickness most of the time, and regular chalky Tums made me gag (fun!). The only thing I could tolerate was peppermint Tums Smoothies. But they worked, and they have calcium!

I love my Target pharamcist, too!
I'll have to try the Tums smoothies. I have been using just berry Tums or something and sometimes they just don't help.
Our little girls are very similar. Mine is daddy shy, too. He has felt her a few times, but often she chills out when his hand comes close. Total tease already.
*hugs*

Tums worked for my pregnancy with my daughter, but if it gets really bad--like to the point where two Tums will hold you off for about an hour max... my midwife said it would be okay to get some OTC Zantac, which is what was needed while I was pregnant with my son. Instant, long-lasting relief, ahhhh.

My doctor said I could have Pepcid AC, as well as Tums. I use the Tums for the minor heartburn and the Pepcid for when I wake up in the middle of the night and have such bad heartburn/acid reflux that I have to check to see if I have thrown up all over the bed.

I lurved the Tums Smoothies!

Lincoln did the same thing with Steve. Just keep it in the back of your mind when cupcake finally makes her appearance. Steve has had to pull "cranky duty" a couple of times now since he can put Lincoln to sleep so easily.

Tums is my constant companion while I'm pregnant.

And yeah. No. You can't marry Target. He's my husband already.

ok, I have a question, cause I'm confused, and if you could explain it, I would be grateful!

I am 22 weeks pregnant as of November 2, meaning I'm about a week to week and a half behind you (i got pregnant in June and they count from June 2) and you said you are 6 months today (and your post from October 31 was 23 weeks)

but isn't it 5 months only? from June 2 to now is 5 months. Since I'm only a week or so behind you, there's no way you can be 6 months and me 5 right? What am I missing?

so I figure maybe I got this week/month thing wrong. how does it work? help a blonde, I'm begging! Anyone?

oh, and I find the only thing that helps me with heartburn is to sip a cold glass of 2% milk. It's the only thing that I can tolerate, cause I don't like tums, but I think I'm gonna try the smoothies!

kbear - I am 24 weeks today. So today is the first day of my 6th month.

I think that is why people always tell you how pregnant they are in weeks - the months thing is confusing.

You're pregnant for 9 whole months. The first day of your 9th month is not your due date - your due date is the end of your 9th month, or 40 weeks. Right now, I'm saying 6 months because 24 weeks divided by 4 weeks in a month is 6 months.

This is going to sound crazy, but cinnamon jolly ranchers have tamed my tummy (pit of hellfire) when nothing else could. Amazingly, my dad turned me on to them and they really help with taking the edge off like now.

buh!

I think i'll just stick to weeks! it's all so confusing!

thanks so much! I do appreciate it!

Who did Cupcake vote for?

My girls did the same thing when my hubby would try and feel them. I would make him feel better by saying it was his soothing touch. Surprisingly, I was right. When they were born, they were both more calm when he held them.

The same things happens to my husband when I put his hand on my stomach. I think the baby can sense something covering the area, because sometimes she even stops moving when I put my hand on my tummy. I can't wait for him to feel her move!

Congrats on rocking your vote today! I early voted about a week and a half ago. I'm anxious for the results!!!

For both my sister's kids, my (and her)OB told her that up to 150mg of ranitidine per day is fine. That's one Zantac 75 morning and evening. Plus rolaids. I don't know what I will do if I ever manage to get pregnant. I am already on Nexium and it just barely manages to keep the hellfire under control. God forbid my doc should make me get off of it.

Ha. My boyfriend gives me maximum spending amounts when we go to Target. I adore Target :)

Laughed so hard, I fell off the couch. I am surprised you didn't grab her, hug her and not let go. What a nice gift for you after all of those idiots you have been running in to. I do have to agree with the Smoothies thing though. They have worked for me and it shocked me since I had heard rumors that regular Tums might not help.

As for the kicks... I TOTALLY get it. It is supposedly a well known fact that babies do that to their dad's. I think it is a game they play. My hubby has finally gotten a few kicks but only after leaving his hand on so long that he left a sweat mark when he took it off. Funny thing though, we have a Fetal Monitor (which is a Godsend when you are stuck on bed rest and terrified that you haven't felt the baby move) and it takes me time to find her little heart beat when I look. HOWEVER, when my hubby tries, he finds it on the first pass. She's already Daddy's little girl.

Enjoy your kicks!! And your Tums.

Clearly the baby must love you better. You are right :)

I love Target too. A lot. Way too much.

Oh yea Tums Smoothies ROCK!!! I had "morning" sickness the entire 9 months and the regular Tums made me puke so I was in heaven when I found the Smoothies.

I love reading your blog and I agree that there is nothing better than Target and Tumm smoothies. I'm not even knocked up yet and I just had some for my lovely heartburn.

I do love Target too! I don't have much need of pregnancy issue stuff yet, but I get a lot of our daughter's clothes there and I love the Method cleaning products. Everyone comments how nice the kitchen smells after I use their granite cleaner on the kitchen counters.

I think you and I are having the same pregnancy... Tums Smoothies (peppermint flavor ONLY) are my new favorite candy, and this child only kicks for me.

I also would marry Target, but I would cheat on it with amazon.com. xoxo

I love Target, too! Good to know about the Tums Smoothies. And glad to hear that everything is going well! Yay for 24 weeks!

BTW, love the Ally McBeal reference. I watch Calista now on Brothers & Sisters. I really like her as an actress!

Tums Smoothies rule :)
I think that I went through 3 bottles when pregnant with Simone and I'm already through one bottle this time hehehe.

Pepcid AC and Zantac 150 are also AWESOME. Both are safe and later on in your pregnancy when Tums only work for maybe 45 minutes, they'll be a lifesaver!!! :)
