Back to Reality

We are back from our cruise! Actually, we've been back since Friday, but I've been sleeping since we got back.

Our vacation was so much fun. I am going to post more about that later, with pictures and maybe a few stories. I haven't gotten my pictures from the camera to the computer just yet, but hopefully later this week. I know you'll be chewing your fingernails to nubs just waiting. Please, try to relax and maybe get some sleep.

Anyway, the major thing that happened on our cruise is this: MORNING SICKNESS.

Yes, we've all heard the pregos bitching and moaning about morning sickness, and how awful it is, and how it should be called all day sickness because it lasts morning, noon and night. Whatever, bitches.

But seriously? This shit lasts morning, noon, and night.

I was feeling pretty smug from Sunday until Wednesday of the cruise. I felt great! I could walk around all day, lay out and swim, eat whatever I wanted, and even, *ahem*, have non-babymaking relations with my hot, hot husband.

Then it was Wednesday. 6 weeks, 6 days. Which is the day that the proverbial shitteth hitteth the faneth. Wow.

I felt OK when I got up, but then I ate breakfast and decided that I was growing not an embryo, but a fire breathing dragon.

And just in case you were wondering, heartburn is not more beautiful or fulfilling by the Caribbean moonlight.

So the first problem was heartburn, and I thought it was just something I ate. But then I ate lunch and dinner, and had to run to the room afterward and lay down so that I didn't hurl on my fellow cruisers.

And you know how sometimes, when you're sick, all you want to do is throw up so that you'll just feel better already? Yes. That is what I'm having, except I cannot throw up. I just feel all burpy and gaggy and dry heavey, but no barfage.

This continued a from Wednesday until we got home Friday. On Saturday and today, I was sick all day, regardless of eating or not. Sick. As. A. Dog.

Now that I'm through complaining, I do have to say:
I HAVE MORNING SICKNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look, I'm not going to lie. It is nice to have a pregnancy symptom that doesn't feel like my period is going to come.

Now that I've got a package of Tums and a case of Ginger Ale, things are feeling a little better. Still sick, but the small comforts help. I am worried about going back to work tomorrow for fear that I will dry heave at my boss, or fall asleep on the bathroom floor.

My ultrasound is Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Two more sleeps till then.

I tried to catch up on my blog reading, but I had almost 400 unread items on my Google Reader. So I have to admit that I had to mark a lot of things as read for my sanity.

So...what's going on with you? Gimme an update!

YAY! I'm so glad you're back, and I am perversely even happier that you are sick (for all the right reasons!).
Here's an update from my neck of the woods: just got a frantic phone call from the neighbor asking for white bread (who has white bread anymore!?!) because their dog ate two cobs of corn. So now on Tuesday I'll be hoping for a great ultrasound for you, and an easy passing for poor Sam, el pouch.

Aw. I'm sure it will be a cute fire breathing dragon at least! I will try to keep myself busy until you post pictures.

Welcome home! I am glad your cruise was awesome and sorry you started getting m/s. Maybe it will only last a couple of weeks. For your sake, i hope it does. I hope to be burping a couple of months behind you when i get my friggin' BFP in SEPTEMBER!!! WOOHOO!!! Again, welcome home!

Glad you are back and so very sorry about your barfy issues. We are leaving tomorrow and I feel this the only month I am not bummed about not being knocked up. I am going to be a crazy wine drinking, rollar coaster riding, Ibuprophen popping fool.

Eat every two hours. Honestly, a protein and a complex carb, and it will make a difference. Says she who vomited every. single. day. Almost all day.

(And I refused the diclectin why?)

I'm so glad you guys had fun, and um... your morning sickness too I guess since its a *good* sign that your baby dragon is growing nice and strong. Welcome back!

I wonder if your morning sickness was exacerbated by being on a BOAT. Had I not experienced the enthralling journey of morning sickness, I would point a smirking finger (yes, my finger can smirk) and say "ha ha" in the same tones as Nelson from The Simpsons.
However, I understand the constant feeling of nausea and the feeling that it would almost be *nice* to throw up just to ease it all, so instead I will just say this,
WELCOME TO PREGNANCY.

Newt said...

Oh heck. Sorry about the nausea--it's no damn fun.

Will keep all fingers and toes crossed until the u/s!

I'm glad you had fun, even if you were sick for part of it.

Not much is happening with me. Except that I am twenty weeks tomorrow and I can't even believe it.

I cannot wait for your ultrasound so we can see if it really is a fire breathing dragon. Just think, if it is, you'll get to be on the news! Maybe you can meet the president!

Definitely a good sign having pregnancy symptoms. I hope you have good apetite, another welcoming pregnancy symptom. Enjoy your pregnancy and take good care!

YAY! for morning (or All-Day) sickness: Hopefully you'll be able to manage it with the tums and ginger ale.

Glad your cruise was fun! Sometimes I have to mark things as read, to keep my sanity...especially when it's over 150 messages.

Welcome back!

Plot summary: I got a haircut and now need help with my eyebrows.

Spent the weekend with my husband's family. It was great to get home - little kids are so tiring!

HI JEN!!! Glad that your cruise was wonderful (despite the gaggy sickness). Julia (also a Redbook blogger) said that when she waspreggo with the adorable twins, she would guzzle water first thing in the morning to help her to...ah...barfo and that seemed to settle the stomach for the rest of the day. Maybe try that? Also, keep saltines with you 24/7. When you wake up eat one or two before even sitting up and that helps.

Hi from The Unfair Struggle.

Glad to hear the cruise was fun. Looking forward to the pics.

I know all about marking posts read for sanity. Go ahead and do it.

Fingers are crossed for your u/s on Tuesday.

Sounds like you had a great vacation. Sadly (sickly?) I am hoping morning sickness hits so I feel something. Hope it settles down a bit. Good luck with your u/s, mine is on Wed.

I've never been happier in my life to hear about someone being sick! Hope it doesn't last too long.... but YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS! Can't wait to see the little one(s) after your ultrasound :)

Glad you had a nice time! (Except for the dry heaving.) It must be nice to have those symptoms, too, and know they're not just in your head (like mine always are)!

Not much new here, just entered my 2WW... 1st cycle of Femara. Hoping for some heartburn in a week or so, it's the ONLY, and I mean ONLY symptom I have not had yet... so I secretly think God is holding it back until it's the "real deal."

As much as google reader makes subscribing easier, it's pretty overwhelming to log in and see the endless unreads. I've never had as high as 400. That's a little crazy Jen. You might want to mark all read and start from scratch! I'm glad that atleast part of the trip was magical. :)

Glad you had a good time...can't wait to see some pics! I love looking at people's vacation pictures...I can live vicariously through them!

My update...went to RE on 7/2...starting IVF#2...on BCP until 7/22.

Apparently you're spreading the good luck, 'cause now your fans are getting pregnant too! 11dp3dt, and I got my beta today: 482. I can't wait for morning sickness. Although you've actually made it slightly less appealing. Welcome back!

Glad you are back safely. I have to admit that when I heard you were going on a cruise I thought about the concept of having morning sickness while on a boat and well...I guess I just wished that wouldn't happen...

You made it most of the way through the cruise so call it a victory! Like everyone above says, it means your hormones are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing. Make sure to never leave the house without a snack with you. That will help!

Enjoy it!

I have to agree with April! Three BFP HPT for me since Saturday!

I go in tomorrow for my first beta.

Stoopid all day sickness affecting you and me both... Ironically mine started in slowly yesterday... at 6w6d. So if this continues, I'll just use you as a beacon to chart my course?? :)

As horrible as it sounds, I am thrilled that you are having morning sickness (for all the right reasons though). (:

I'm glad you are back. I'm 7dp3dt today and could use some of your entertainment to get through this hellish wait.

I can't wait to read your update tomorrow. Good luck!!

(Courtney) Thinking of you and hoping all's well. Between your newly acquired "morning" (more accurately, 24/7) sickness and the big news that comes from an ultrasound, we're definitely eager to know how you are doing, but can imagine you might have a lot going on.

Wishing you well.

I am coming out of lurker hiding to say congratulations! I love reading your blog, as you make me laugh hysterically on a regular basis (especially the old posts regarding hiding your underwear at the doctor- I think about the exact stupid thing!). Thanks for helping to make the TTC w/unexplained infertility (in my case) process a little more bearable (and hopeful!). I can't wait for an update!!
