I wonder if one of them will look like Danny DeVito

Holy shit, you are really not going to believe this:

That right there?   Is a picture of our IDENTICAL TWINS.  Both measuring 6 weeks, 1 day with perfect heartbeats.

Hot diggity damn.  If there was one thing I did NOT expect, it was, "there are two heartbeats; you're having twins."  I wonder if one will come out looking like Danny DeVito?

I also have a subchorionic hematoma, which is the asshole responsible for all of this bleeding bullshit. (And I mean really, are the blog commentors ever wrong?  Never, I say.)  I go back next week so that they can take another look at it.

But for right now?  Excited.  Nervous.  Holy hell.  Now I finally have a legitimate excuse to eat for three.

Congrats!!! Sooooo happy for you! I knew it must be a pesky sch! Hope it resolves soon. Mine was found at 6w and hung around until my NST. After the initial first week of a full-on murder scene in my pants, it tapered off to annoying brown junk for several weeks. Have fun with that!
Congrats on those beautiful heartbeats though :)

First of all, congratulations!!! That is SO exciting. Second, to give you a little reassurance I had a subchorionic hematoma with my last pregnancy. It's scary as hell but they usually resolve on their own. Mine scared the crap out of me for about 5-6 weeks (ruined two perfectly good pair of jeans) and then went away for good! Good luck!

Let me know if you are interested and I'll send the links to you.

Congratulations...I know EXACTLY how you feel right now. My son was 16 months old when we found out we were having twins and I would have never in a hundred million years expected it!

All I have to say is, it's gonna be hard! Cherish every minute with your daughter right now while she is the only one and really give her as much one on one time as possible. She will never get this time of her life back & things for her are going to change so much in the next 9 months!

Also...rest, rest, rest, rest, rest! Get those babies as far as you can. Ours were born at 29 weeks and spent 48 days in the NICU....hardest time of our lives.

Let me know if you have any questions! I'd love to offer and advice I can!

Can't wait to hear more!

Amy said...

ha ha! I didn't comment on your previous post because I figured you didn't want to hear me speculate that you were having multiples. At least you know early :) They didn't "find" mine until I was 23 weeks. I had spotting early, too, which freaked me right out as I'd had a miscarriage in Jan. 2009.

Prepare to be as big as a house! Also? That whole eating for three? Not so much. Two babies be takin' up all the room in your guts, lady. You'll be lucky to put down half a sandwich.

Oh, btw...I have 15 week old twin boys. Twins = stereo cuteness.

Good for you, I'll be tracking your progress (insert evil internet stalker finger steeple here).

WOW! Congratulations!! I was reading a post below about your betas! Seems kind of backwards but sometimes hormones are like that! If you're daughter is 16 months and you're 6 weeks, then she will be just a tad younger than my daughter was when I had my twins (all via IVF)! It's so crazy isn't it? Be prepared, you're head will spin quite a few more times in the near future! My twins are now nearly 10 months old and my daughter's 3!
Anyway, I just stumbled on you, I'm your newest follower and I just added you onto my successful blogroll. I would love to feature your success story onto my blog (which I now write to help others through infertility). Check out my most recent post to see the format! Thanks in advance and congratulations again!!!

Rebecca M. said...

Congrats on your pregnancy - and twins. Children are a blessing.

Rather than just "eating for three" please do some research on the special dietary needs of a multiples pregnancy. Here's a link to get you started: http://www.ivillage.com/twin-pregnancy-are-you-getting-enough-protein/6-n-145915 (Although with your history of GERD, you should eliminate dairy and focus on lean meats, beans, and nuts for your protein sources.) A friend of mine had healthy twin boys at 37w5d, one weighing over 7lbs and the other nearly 7lbs, and she credits the huge amounts of protein she ate while pregnant. You can follow her on twitter at @twinmama.

I seriously hope you will find a care provider who will not automatically treat your pregnancy as high-risk just because you're carrying twins. There's no reason for you to have a surgical birth JUST BECAUSE you're having twins, especially since you've already had a vaginal birth. I find the above comment from KristenWiley to be laughable - no pain? So easy? That is NOT the typical surgical birth experience, and you will be caring for TWINS plus your toddler afterward - plus likely going back to work within a couple months. I think the many women who have suffered complications - or ya know, death - would disagree that "c-sections = love". I find that casual attitude toward major abdominal surgery, and all it's attendant risks to the mother and baby(ies), SO distasteful.

Congratulations! I recently found out that I'm pregnant with fraternal twins, and am 6 weeks 3 days along. I'm completely overwhelmed and still in a state of shock. Yes, and scared too. My husband and I have been trying forever and this came as a complete surprise. I look forward to hearing your honest and funny take on this journey.

Delurking.....CONGRATULATIONS!! I have been reading your blog for awhile now and was hoping by your numbers that it meant you were having twins although I have no idea about this stuff. I was just hoping it was fantastic news! In this case I would say yes, yes it is!! =)

How exciting! I had a SCH with this pregnancy and even had bleeding with clots. I called my whole family to tell them it wasn't a viable pregnancy. Low and behold...the heartbeat was still there. Mine bleed out and was completely gone by 14 weeks. Hopefully yours won't cause you too much trouble. AND OMG TWINS! IDENTICAL AT THAT?!?! CRAZY TALK!

yay! I totally called it that you were having twins, I believe my comment was, "I will laugh if you show up and you are having twins." I have twins and they are the BEST thing ever, they totally entertain themselves and they are not as hard as everyone will tell you they are! Congrats girl!
