Tell me how you care for your skin, and win $50!!

Oh yeah, it's another sponsored post and giveaway. I'm on a roll with these!  They are pretty fun, and I get to try stuff and give my honest opinion and give something away to you guys.

I received a bottle of Olay® Total Effects Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer to try and review. I was pretty skeptical because I have skin like a freak of nature. I get dry and peely really easily, and my cheeks turn bright red if I use a product that doesn't agree with me.

Quite honestly, this review would be a lot more amusing if my skin went bat-shit crazy while using this stuff. Sadly, it did not. I actually really liked it a lot!

My skin is crappy, as previously discussed. I have giant pores on my nose and T-zone, and I have a big ugly sun spot on my right cheek. I'm starting to notice the dreaded fine lines around and between my eyes. I have zero skin-care routine, so when this Olay opportunity came up I was all over it. This product is supposed to help minimize spots and fight the appearance of discoloration, while also combating the seven signs of aging.

So let me tell you what I really think about this product, and then I'll tell you how you can enter for a chance to win a $50 Visa Gift Card.
I'll go over the seven signs of aging and review the product based on each sign (I've combined a few of the signs).
Line Minimization: I can't say that I've noticed a big change in the appearance of my fine lines. I've been using the product everyday for about two weeks, so it might just take more time. Sometimes I notice that I have breakfast Nutella on my face at around noon, so I might not be doing a close enough inspection.
Nourishing Moisturization & Dryness Defense: I am really picky about moisturizer because my skin is dry in places and oily in others. I really like this product for moisturizing! I don't know that it would work for me during the brutal winter months, but for spring and summer it would be perfect. It made my skin soft without making it oily, as some other anti-aging products have done.
Tone Enhancement: I've never used a tinted moisturizer before. I usually moisturize and then use a foundation. I worried that the color would look blotchy over my dry skin, and that the combination of a tinted moisturizer with foundation would make my skin look too dark. This went on really smooth and I do feel like my skin looked a bit more even after I used the moisturizer with foundation on top.
Gentle Exfoliation & Eye Puffiness Reduction: Meh. I didn't notice any sort of exfoliation. And my eyes definitely do not look less puffy. However, I am hugely pregnant and puffy all over the place. So perhaps I should reduce my salt intake and stop blaming this face lotion for not making my eyes look less puffy?
Free Radical Defense: This stuff has an SPF of 15, which is what I like. It does smell like sunscreen at first, which isn't my favorite, but the scent faded as it dried. So ... that's what I think about Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer. I like it and would buy it, especially for the warm spring/summer months when I need a lighter moisturizer.
Now the good stuff: How to enter for a chance to win a $50 Visa Gift Card! Just leave a comment telling me about your skincare routine. How do you care for your skin? What products do you like for cleansing and moisturizing?

I wash my face in the shower with kirkland brand soap, then as I get ready I apply lubriderm sensitive skin lotion to my face, then add my poweder foundation, takes me all of 5 minutes, not much of a routine.

I wash my face with an exfoliating wash in the mornIng and then use a moisturizer with SPF, I use a mild wash at night and the same moisturizer afterward. My skin sucks though so maybe I should change it up!

I wash with Olay face was in the morning and before bed and use Neutrogena lotion. I use St. Ives apricot scrub when I'm feeling scaly.

I use an Oil of Olay warming peel every other night for moisture. Morning I use Neutrogena toner and a light moisturizer by BeneFit.
I tried this moisturizer yesterday as a sample at WalMart and I really liked it because it left my skin baby soft.I love the fact it has an SPF for my pasty white skin.

I use baby wipes to clean my face and that's about the end of it. Sad. I break out like a teen and am starting to show my age. I turn 30 this year and would love to have a grown up skin care routine but finances do not allow for it! This would be way helpful!!

Cory said...

I'm in my late twenties and still break out...I don't have a routine besides morning/night wash because I am constantly trying new things to help!

Moisture is my issue. I've recently started using HEMPZ products and love them. While they are expensive they are helping me to conquer the dry skin issues. I shower with the scrub and moisturize with the lotion straight out of the shower.

I try to use moisturizer with SPF daily...

Sunny said...

In the morning, I just rinse my face with water. Then I use under-eye cream and face moisturizer with SPF. (Whatever brand catches my eye, I like to mix it up and try new things.) At night I use eye make-up remover, then I wash my face with cleanser, then use under-eye cream and a night moisturizer. Again, whatever brand catches my eye or sends me a coupon. :)

First things first: breakfast nutella for the win!

As for skin care, A.M. I start with either a moisturizing scrubby or foaming wash in the shower, top with Neutrogina Oil Free Sensative Skin moisturiser and a Boot No. 7 eye gel to help with the circles/puffies under the eyes. P.M. I wash with either Cetaphil or a different scrubby wash and hit my forehead only with a Garnier Intensive Anti-Wrinkle cream.

But I think something needs to change because recently my forehead has decided to illustrate it's unhappiness with a slew of red bumps. They're teh sexxxy.

JM said...

Take care of my skin? That's funny. I throw on moisturizer before I put my foundation on, then hope I'm not too tired before I go to bed to take it off.

Rebecca said...

I do nothing. My skin NEEDS a regimen but it has nothing. I wash with water in the mornings and dry my face with a towel. Not even a microfiber towel. Just a regular terrycloth towel. No moisturizer, no special facial washes nothing. I'm in my upper 30's and need something though.

Kelly said...

I use cetaphil cleanser and lotion when I think about it. I'm a sahm, so I rarely wear makeup and even more rare is the occasion when I look in the mirror! On special occasions, I use clinique 7 day scrub. Makes me feel all fancy.

I use Mary Kay. I sell it just so I can get a discount for myself. Ha! I used to use Clinique, but my skin got used to it... and MK is cheaper. :)

I recently had major facial skin drama and spent a lot of time at the dermatologist. I have the oily/dry combo problem too and had just accepted that some of my face would be terribly dry in the winter. Until! Until my doc told me to use cerave to wash my face instead of neutrogena, which I thought was good. I had no idea how undry my skin could be! I can't rely on it to remove makeup as well but lovin the cerave facial wash! I also use the "Dan Kern Regimen" to banish my awful PCOS-acne. That plus birth control is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

I do not really have much of a skincare routine. I will try just about anything, so I generally just use whatever is on sale/someone has given me-- I do like products, so I am always happy to try something for the first time!

Meegs said...

I do the oil cleanse method, and use a little bit of burts bee's acne control lotion if I get any dryness.

Unknown said...

I use Mary Kay (and sell it too like a previous poster) - hands down the best skin care regime (and easiest I've come across). You should always cleanse in the morning and at night no matter what products you use.. also - always exfoliate before you put on moisturizer! People try to 'cover' dead skin with tons of moisturizer but if you dont exfoliate first its like watering a dead tree :) Have a great day!

Jenica said...

I really only wash my face in the shower in the morning. Ever since I started using Bare Minerals, I break out if I wash it more often. But I've started using just the tiniest smidge of virgin coconut oil on my face just after I get out of the shower in the morning and suddenly the last of my acne has disappeared, my skin is amazingly soft, and I don't have any more peely bits.

I use a Clearasil face scrub in the shower because I like the scrubby beads. Then I use a dark spot minimizier from Garnier above my uppper lip to hopefully eliminate my mom-stache (it's not hair, it's dark skin because having kids messes with your body in more ways than you can imagine), followed by a moisturizer made by Garnier. Don't ask me the names of any of these things because I don't know them. I also don't know if any of them are working as they should. I really need to pay more attention.
