I'm Embryoated

You know, that is the one downfall of IVF compared to IUI (Intrauterine Insemination). When I had IUI, I could come home and declare: I'M SPERMINATED! But with IVF, the only thing I could think of was: I'M EMBRYOATED! And even I can admit that it just isn't as cool. (If you have better ideas, leave 'em in the comments. I'd be happy to steal your one-liners!)

Anyway, my transfer was fabulous. All my favorite nurses were working (except Sally, she wasn't there), and even my favorite ultrasound lady was there (I lurve you, Martie). The best part was the reappearance of Dr. OLGA and you know I can't resist...

This time, instead of skewers, she was armed with a soft, flexible catheter. I liked my chances of survival, if you know what I'm saying. And this time she was talking about the Sex and the City movie. I asked her how it was and she said, "Iz fairytale." HAHA!

Dr.OLGA! She's such a card!

My ovaries? Are gigantic. They are so big that they are touching - they meet in the middle of my abdomen. Martie said that they were kissing, and I thought that it figures - my ovaries are sluts.

It was a big relief to leave my transfer laughing and feeling good, since last time I left there ugly crying and popping Tylenol 3's like they were mini Reese's cups.

This time, I got my Valium. Took it about an hour before the transfer happened. I was all "Psh. Valium is bullshit." I didn't really feel any different.

Then I came home and took a 7 hour nap, then went to bed for the night two hours later. So maybe Valium isn't bullshit after all?

At my last fert report, we had 12 embryos between 2 and 4 cell, and 3 more that didn't divide but were hopeful.

We transferred 2 perfect 8 cell embryos, and froze 2 more. The other 8 of 12 are going to hang out to blastocyst and whatever looks good at day 5 will be frozen. The other 3 slackers did end up dividing, and so they are being watched until blast, too. I'm happy with that...I do hope we have more than a couple more to freeze, though.

While I was marathon napping, Mark snuck out and bought me Juno and The Office: Season 3. And maybe you don't realize how sweet that is. Because I am really, really weird, and have always wanted to watch things over and over again. When I was little, I watched Back to the Future every day for, like, two years. Sometimes twice. I'm like that with any shows or movies I like. So Juno and The Office will provide me with hours and hours of entertainment during bed rest and forever, really.

I'm off work until Wednesday and am planning to be a good little bed rester.

Happy to hear that it went well. I loved Juno, sadly I have never seen The Office.

I love watching things over and over. When I clean the house on Sunday I watch You've Got Mail every time. In high school I watched Clueless with my best friend every day after school. I love the familiar.

Keeping you in my thoughts!

YAY on making it to transfer hon! Sounds like you are going to have lots of frozen embryos as well :-) Keeping everything crossed for you over the next couple of weeks. When's your beta? xxx

Glad the transfer went well. Hope you get a few more frosties to add to the bank! I watched Juno just recently and loved it!

Yay for 2 perfect little stickies!! All crossables crossed that they burrow in there for a nice long stay!

My husband has me hooked on the office now, I love it!

Congratulations on your multiple multi-celled embryo's...I hope they are very sticky for you!

Good luck keeping yourself occupied during the bed rest. I recommend "Music and Lyrics" and "The Holiday"' for multiple watchings. (though "You've got Mail" "The Lake House" and "Sleepless in Seattle" are also good choices.)

I've got nothing better than Embryonated...

I am the same way with movies and books and music. When I like something I just watch/read/listen to it over and over and over again.
Congratulations on getting some embryos all up in there! Tell those little stinkers they best stay put.

Get lots of R&R and so these Ebabies decide that your uterus is a nice, comfy place for them to spend the next 9 months :) Glad the transfer went well... I can't wait to hear the results!

I will be thinking (enviously) while stuck in an office work station wishing I was not. Have fun laying around it a great way to spend a Monday.

I am embarassed at how much I can watch certain things, over and over again, makes me worry about my brain when I am sad or happy for the 10th time I see some couple get together on a romantic comedy.

Congrats on the transfer!

Fingers and toes crossed here. ;)

Yay! I am rooting for you and your embies! We will just have to bite our fingernails together during this 2ww. I love The Office, it took a while to grow on me but now it's one of my favorite shows. I still haven't been able to bring myself to watch Juno. The whole OOOPS! I am a pregnant teenager thing just kind of irks me. Call it IF related bitterness if you will. ;-)

I am praying for a quick 2WW for you!

I've really got nothin better than being embryonated. Except being inebriated. I always thought Valium made a person inebriated. So maybe you are embryonated and inebriated.

I'd say you were chuck full of embyological goodness? Uterus Hostess? Forgive me. I'm tying but I must be a lot less clever than I thought I was.

Congrats on your embryo stuffing. I think you are also my little sister because she watches things over and over again. Like Rainbow Brite, and My Little Pony. Then she graduated to Dave. It's still good after the eight millionth time.

Fun times! So glad to hear the ET went well and that you have some frosties to boot! Hope the others continue growing out to blast.

I watched SATC marathons over and over a few years ago. I have every episode memorized I think. Love "The Office" and "Juno." Have fun on your bed rest!

I'm a re-watcher, re-reader as well. One summer I clocked up 50+ viewings of Dirty Dancing (although I was about 10 so I have some excuse.)

Good luck with all those embies!

You're so not weird! I watched Grease when I was 6 at least 5 times a day!!!!

Get all the R&R and I'm dusting and sprinkling this post with lots of postive thoughts!!!

Let them stick!

If you want some variety, but don't want to deviate TOO much from the familiar, try watching the original Office (the British one). I've never seen the American one, but the British one is freakin' hilarious.

Congrats on the ET!!!! Sounds like it was a much more pleasant(is that the right word?) than last time.

Haven't seen Sex and the City yet, but I did hear that Charlotte utters that classicly annoying TTC line in the movie: "Everybody told me that if I just relaxed and adopted, I'd get pregnant and I did!!!" And, yes, I thought of you when I heard that!!

Wahoo! Happy for two embies! Hoping that them slutty ovaries keep the two stickin' around!

Best Wishes for a BFP and sending sticky babyvibes your way. Your Babydaddy sounds like a Major sweetheart. I love The Office, both the British and American versions.

I just stumbled across your blog and have sat here reading the majority of your first page to my husband. You CRACK me up!!!

Sending sticky babe vibes your way! :)

Get your behind back in bed.

You remind me a little of Juno. With all your wiley banter and such. That would make Mark Paulie Bleeker. Perhaps you would rather be Diablo Cody.

Hope you look like her soon! (Juno, not Diablo Cody.)

Great news on the transfer and with embies to freeze!

My ovaries were sluts for our IVF#1. I hope yours go down soon. (Hugs)

Stick dust & BFP's for you in my prayers! :)

I love the name of your blog. Isn't that the what everyone says? :)

I just say Juno for the first time the other night. I loved her attitude and wit. It reminded me of myself at 16. I really didn't care what people thought. But I always had respect for the elders.

Take care of yourself and get lots of rest.

Mara said...

Congratulations on an awesome transfer! Sending serious sticky dust to you! And lots of luck towards your other embryos that you have more to freeze.

Yay, I'm glad to hear that the transfer went well... and that you survived Olga. I hope you guys will have a few more that make it to freeze. I loved Juno, and the Office is a great show. I'm with you in that I can watch movies/tv shows I love over and over.

I am so glad your transfer was all rainbowsand puppy dogs this time! so great! Have fun on bed rest, i could watch the same movie over and over too! love it!

Kim said...

Congrats on a great transfer! I watch some shows/movies over and over too! I am hooked on The Wedding Singer right now! My ovaries were touching too during my last IVF! I was so sore for a while! You could say you are PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise) but it still doesn't sound as cool! NCLM

Wishing you all the best during this wait! Good luck!

Just wanted to pop in to say, Good Luck! I read your post on redbook also and don't worry about not knowing about pregnancy. You will learn it all. For now. Rest and take it easy and just get yourself through the TWW. I am praying for you!!

Congrats on the transfer, Jen. 2 8-cellers sounds fabu! What are you gonna do during the 2ww? Anything to distract yourself? Count twinges? Get lost in the Office I assume. I've got my fingers crossed for you!

I've been following you forevers but apparently not FOREVERever, so I'm going back into foreverland and reading your oldies. I felt compelled to comment on this one because my Hussy can't STAND the fact that I watch shows and movies over and over and over again.

But you know what? JUNO AND THE OFFICE ARE MY FAVES TO REWATCH, so I automatically fell in love with you after this post. Also, your daughters name. I even rewatched 3 episodes of The Office last night! Anyhow, I'm super excited to get further into the future/past posts more than I was before with your awesomely honest vulgarity.
