Bah. Sick.

Olivia was sick. 106 degree fever sick. Bad ear infection. On the mend.

Ainsley is...sick? I mean, she is technically always sick considering that her lungs suck ass (instead of air) and she needs a machine to breathe for her. But she has been doing some scary, purple-turning stuff. It might be a virus or infection but It might be her pulmonary hypertension getting worse and that is just simply not good at all.

I am sick. Like, soul-sucking morning sickness at 21 weeks sick. And I'm crazy, too. I've been kind of obsessed with taking my blood pressure because I am terrified that I have preeclampsia again.

Mark was sick. Sinus infection. Still not at 100%.

I think the universe is getting back at me for making fun of people who wear crocs. I kind of want to pull the covers over my head and sleep all day but being a grown up sucks like that because kids! Dogs! Mortgage! Productive member of society!

Anyway. Post one for this week. We suck at health but hey! Am KILLING IT at new years resolutions!

Hope you're all on the mend soon! If it helps at all, I had pre-e with my first pregnancy, and no problems at all with my second. I was also obsessive about checking my BP all day long. Good luck!

I'm so so sorry you all are dealing with illness! I hope you are on the mend soon! Way to go on new years resolutions, though, eh?

In my Bradley Method birthing class, our instructor said that eating a high-protein diet can significantly reduce your chances of developing preeclampsia. She had us eating 90+ grams of protein every day. Might be worth looking into?

I will never mock Crocs again. Hope you all are feeling better soon.

I had pre-e the first time, but late (36 weeks) and the second they paid more attention to my vitamin D. Not sure if it really did anything, but didn't happen (that said, I delivered at 29&6, so who really knows)

"I think the universe is getting back at me for making fun of people who wear crocs." Yup, that's got to be it, sounds logical enough. Hope you all get better soon.

Feel better soon - all of you!

Wow, you must really hate crocs for the whole family to get THAT sick.

Hope you all get well soon!

Ugh, I hope you feel better.

By the way, do not listen to that garbage about eating a high protein diet to prevent pre-eclampsia. (It's very discouraging that that myth is STILL out there.) Diet and high protein diets (and the "Brewer's diet") have been studied and disproven as a cause or prevention of pre-eclampsia. In fact, some people who eat a high protein diet have ended up getting pre-eclampsia worse in subsequent pregnancies. Here is a link to a lot of links with studies (organized by topic), there is a huge section devoted to diet and exercise and pre-e.

Um, people who wear crocs deserve the mocking.

That cannot be it.

Or else it's why I've had the stomach flu, a vague cold, and pulled my back out within the last 30 days.

You know what I own? Crocs. Lined. With. Fur.

Yep, I went there.

Granted, I only wear them to take my dog out when it's cold, but I hear that's how it starts :)

Feel better!

Being a grown up is hard, that's for sure. I'm glad your family is on the mend, but still, you are in a tough place. Get some rest and take care!

Seriously, you know what I heard was good for preventing pre-eclampsia? BLOW-JOBS!! By you, to the baby's daddy. Or sex. It has something to do with your immune system getting exposed to his DNA.
Then again this could have been some questionable result generated by a frustrated male doctor with a pregnant wife.#
In any case, I bet that's REALLY something you are up for these days! Just a thought nonetheless.
Thinking of you and your family, and that health improves for all.

I heard the blow job rumor, too. I thought my husband made it up. I think he was secretly hoping there would be a little pre-e just so he could ... benefit.

But back to you! I hope the whole gang is feeling better already!
