One Month Already?

I was texting with Mark yesterday and he accidentally ended a sentence in a question mark and then said, "I just Anchormaned that sentence."  From the movie Anchorman, when someone accidentally puts a question mark at the end of a sentence and Ron reads it as written, "I'm Ron Burgundy?"

(And then later he reads, "Go Fuck Yourselves, San Diego."  Gah, I love that movie.)

Anyway, I wrote the title to this post and it looks like I Anchormaned the title.

No matter how you look at it, Adelle is one month old.  I mean, she's more than four weeks old.  But she was born May 29, so maybe she isn't a month old until June 29? Am I supposed to go by weeks or by the calendar date?  Important details to nobody, I'm sure.  Let's just get right to the cute, shall we?

So cute I died.
(Photo by Felicia Lewis, FML Photo Design)
That was a few days after we came home from the hospital.  She was the sleepiest (read: BEST) baby model ever for this photo session.  I have many  more but I haven't sent my announcements out yet and don't want to spoil them for the actual people that I know in real life.

(Seriously, I do know people that I didn't meet on the Internet, and occasionally I send them real mail.  I swear.  Most of them like me, too, if you can fathom!)

Other very cute things happened that were not professionally photographed.  I have a very nice camera but I have no idea how to work it and really, I take all of my pictures on my iPhone.

Olivia feeding Adelle.
Very exciting, aparently.
Speaking of feeding, this child continues to be super fun to feed, following in the Knepper Child Tradition of being Refluxy, OMG.  She swallows (heh) the spitup but cries one ounce into a feed and struggles for the entire four ounces.  Pepcid sucks ass like I knew it would, but I picked up our Prevacid prescription today so I'm hoping it changes her life like it did for Olivia.

"Ima pet her. Like a doggie."
It is a lot different having a newborn around the house at the same time as a three year old.  There is no sitting around gazing at your sleeping baby all day while you watch entire seasons of shows.  No.  This child has no choice but to go places - the zoo, the park, the wading pool, outside alllllllllllll day despite mid-80 degree weather.

It's hot out, idiots.
Also, I am rocking this hat.
Also, I simply cannot rush to a crying baby at the first sign of a whimper.  While I feel like this time around has been incredibly easy, there really is so much more to do.  Clean up after Tornado Olivia, wash bottles, make formula, make dinner, bathe (occasionally).

Also also, Adelle has entered the colicky/witching hour phase where, for an hour or two every night, she is just pissed the hell off and nobody can make her happy for more than five minutes at a time.  This is the phase that made me realize that babies can act like assholes.  It is the reason that I do not especially enjoy the newborn phase and, regretfully, makes me wish I could fast forward to three months.  I hate to wish time away, but by the time of day the crying starts, my nerves are shot and I just really want a beer and some earplugs.

And then she falls asleep on me and does a sleep smile and I'm all,
"What?  I love newborns!"

I bought those monthly onesie stickers that everyone seems to have for their babies.  But when I ordered them from Etsy I didn't realize the shop was in Canada and so shipping is expensive and takes forever.  I FAIL at life at least daily so this was not a surprise to me.  Plus they started at zero months so now I am two months behind.  MomFAIL.

Adelle really is a nice little chunk of baby.  I do believe that I will keep her, especially since I have not yet finished gnawing on her deliciously fat cheeks.

She is so stinking cute!

Hope the prevacid is the wonder drug - for everyone's sanity!

Oh, Jen. fabulous as usual. Hearty congratulations from some anonymous person you don't know but who is pretty sure she loves you and will now stop writing about herself in the third peron and being creepy....now.

...now.

She's so cute!! I hope you get some reflux relief soon. That's a bitch I know. :/

As for the months - I counted 5/29 to 6/29... that way at 5/29 next year it will be 12 months. Otherwise, once you get back to 5/29, if you count 4 weeks at a time, you'll get to 13 "months"... 52/4=13. Plus it's way easier to just remember 29 than count weeks!

So when you get the month stickers, you take a picture of the first two on blank backgrounds, find some old pictures of the baby and photoshop those suckers right on there.

Super cute baby, by the way. You always have created cute ones.

Adorable!!! Prevacid was and still is our miracle drug for our almost 4 yr old son. Hope it helps and helps soon.

Baby girl is absolutely rocking that hat! And having a toddler and a newborn both at home = very differnt world.

Such a cutie! My little man is a month older than Adelle and my daughter is just a couple of months younger than yours, so I know what you mean about the dfferences from just having one. And yes...babies can definitely be assholes. I have uttered that phrase many times in the last two months,

Apparently I missed the post when you had her!! Congrats to you all!! Yes, life with more than one at home is interesting. You'll adapt, and your house will never be the same. I swear by Prilosec (even the generic formulary they make right at the pharmacy), so if Prevacid doesn't work, try that. ;o)

She's adorable. Has anyone said she looks a little like Ainsley? Of course, you make cute babies so they all look alike anyway. :o)

Congrats!!

Awwww, she is adorable! My little girl was born on the 14th, and we're also struggling with the already-having-a-toddler thing. I used to think I rocked at new motherhood. Turns out, one baby that sleeps all the time is pretty easy :) Totally feeling you on the reflux/colic/will she ever stop crying business too. Prevacid has been wonderful *knocking on wood*

Girlfriend is so cute? Yes! (I, too, love Anchorman.)

Glad it wasn't just me who spent the newborn days like that. The above statement has me second guessing a second kid ;)

She's adorable, I want to pinch her cheeks!!!

ZOMG, the cuteness! I don't want to hurt u by saying this, so I am reluctant, but I thought the last pic was Ainsley until I read the caption. You sure make beautiful girls!

Beautiful pictures :)
I can't believe she's a month old, either!

A guy I work with is named Ron, and he has superfly feathered '80s hair and a cheesy porn moustache. Naturally, we call him Ron Burgundy.

Adele is most adorable. I see her sisters in her...

She is beautiful and has that delicious Knepper-girl look. She looks so much older than 1 month to me, very expressive. It sounds like you're all doing wonderfully. Washing is overrated. As is the newborn phase, I couldn't wait to get out of there and I was right. I hope that the reflux stuff works and thanks for the big update,x ps. on the fail, you get a big merit from me for being involved in a photoshoot days after her birth! Still haven't got round to that and our girl is 2.

Gorgeous, gorgeous baby! Love her in that sun hat and love Olivia's smile as she feeds Adelle. It's all too cute for words. Those 2 beautiful little girls must be such a balm against your grief - they are adorable.

Extreme baby cuteness! She's beautiful. Thanks for sharing her (and Olivia..because she is toddler-y sweetness, too).

She is beautiful! On the topic of Mom fails, I didn't know those monthly thingies were stickers until, oh, a couple weeks ago (my son is 10 months old). I kept thinking "wow, all these people have babies that fit into the right size clothes." (H was in 3-6 month clothes at about 2 weeks old.)

*facepalm*

What a delicious little baby sausage! OMG the chub!

My advice for the witching hour? Get yerself a beer and earplugs. Srsly. I got a set of noise-cancelling headphones and loooove them. You can still do all the rocking and pacing and jiggling and whatnot, but your nerves don't get as worn out.

Happy 1-month birthday, Adelle!

In that last picture she is sporting such an Ainsley smile! Look at those cheeeeks!

Wow, in that last photo, she looks so much like Ainsley!

She's gorgeous! I agree - my first thought from that last picture was, "Wow, she looks just like Ainsley." Maybe she's dreaming of her big sister with that smile on!

There should be a "like" link for everything, because I simply LIKE this post. Glad that everything is so utterly normal for you.

My lifesaver: Colic Calm. http://coliccalm.com/ It's about $25 a bottle but man is it worth it because that stuff works!

I've also heard good things about The Windi, but don't have personal experience with it and I thought you'd get a kick out of it: http://www.fridababy.com/shop/windi-for-gas-relief/

Wow, she looks SO much like Ainsley in that last picture. Channeling her big sister, it's a beautiful thing.

Love, love. I'm not a super newborn fan either. And in about 6 months, when they're both needy and you feel like reaching for a beer at 11am: a) do it, beer is good at 11am and b) it gets better, things get easier. Once the littlest is 1ish, they're slightly more self-sufficient, and the kids start to interact, and Life Will Be Good. :)

She is absolutely precious! That last picture looks a lot like Ainsley, I think.

My guess is that all the going-and-doing from such an early age will make her one super laidback baby!

Love the pic with the sleeping smile and I don't miss the witching hour portion of the newborn phase!!!

my twins turned 3 on 5/29 and I've been reading your blog the last several years.
I feel the same way about that "witching" hour and wishing I could have sped up those first 3 months of pure hell with my girls (AlEla as we plural them).
Glad someone in the mommy clubs speaks the truth like myself!
Congrats!

I just found your blog today. I just had my daughter, Hadley, on 05/29 as well. She's my first though so I do get to sit around and stare at her all day. I love it.
I just got my onesie stickers in the mail on Friday. I guess all the cool kids are doing it...and us slacker moms are a little behind. She'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday but I'm still going to take a picture of her with the one month sticker after her bath tonight...no one will ever know. Congratulations on the new little one!

For the record, Adelle and I share a birthday :o). May 29! Shared also with President Kennedy, and also with Daniel Tosh of Tosh.O. Great company. ;o)

I bought some of those stickers also. Didn't notice the store was in Canada either. It did take FOREVER for me to get my shipment so I missed the zero and one month sticker pictures. Should have just take them anyhow. Dang.
